The Cha Cha actually began in the United States in the early 1950’s having evolved from the Mambo, which came from Cuba. Cha Cha quickly became the most popular Latin dance in America. Its style is flirtatious. The music is usually a lively tempo and can be danced to Cha Cha music as well as pop music. The couples often dance open patterns and challenge each other playfully.
