Some fit better on a small dance floor and some dances require a lot of space to be done well. If you aren’t sure what dances you should learn, your instructor can help you choose based on the kind of music you like and where you would like to go dancing.

All dances begin with basic steps, so anyone can learn them, and they can all be danced socially. However, some are better suited to competition dancing because they are developed for technique, follow an international syllabus and are studied world wide. Whatever dances you choose to dance can be suited to your dance goals and ability.
