This is one of the most popular social dances in the U.S.  Salsa began to gain popularity in the 1970’s in New York City. It works on the same basis of the Mambo, but is a more relaxed version of the two. It also has the forward and back basic, but it starts most often on the ‘one’ beat rather than the ‘two’ like the Mambo. The Salsa also uses plenty of turns and very much like the Hustle in that aspect. It has several styles that emphasize different looks, but all are easy for the beginner to learn the basics.
