Your Champion Ballroom Instructors

Robert and Jennifer Foster have a passion for Ballroom and Latin dance. Teaching people the fun and excitement that learning to dance can bring, is their greatest joy. As teachers of competition students, they have helped produce more amateur, pro-am and professional U. S. finalists and champions than anyone in Minnesota.

The Fosters have danced for 25 years. They have competed at the professional level, winning 3 US ballroom dance titles, taught and performed on televion and all over the world, but consider teaching to be the greatest part of their career.

The Fosters have competed professionally in over 250 competitions since they began dancing together in 1986. Placing 1st over 100 times in professional competition, their national rankings also include the 1995, 2000 and 2001 United States Professional Theatrical Dance Sport Championship. They were also 4 time U. S. Professional Rhythm and Cabaret Finalists, 2 time Blackpool Cabaret Finalists, World Professional Cabaret Finalists and the 1998 WorldDance Champions. Along with these accomplishments the Fosters are one of the only couples in the U.S. to be professional finalists in three divisions at one time.

A well known dance couple in the United States,  Robert and Jennifer have been a featured couple on PBS's Championship Ballroom Dancing, ESPN, Goodlife TV, NBC as well as numerous television commercials, local television appearances and a stage production called ‘I Won’t Dance’ at the Ordway Theater in St. Paul. Robert's award winning choreography can be seen all over the U.S.

Caitlin Rose Foster

Daughter of 3 times U.S. Theater Arts Champions, Robert & Jennifer Foster (owners of Champion Ballroom), Caitlin grew up in the Ballroom. Starting with Ballet, Tap, and Jazz in her younger years, she grew a love for dance. In school, she danced in school musicals and participated in her high school's danceline and was voted 'Best Dancer' by her senior class. In her teens, she started intense training in International Latin Style (Cha-cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive). Before she graduated from High School, she had already won the 'Pro-Am Open Smooth Scholarship' at Twin Cities Open and as well as the 'International Latin Open Pro-Am Championship'.
     At age 18, she began her professional career. She is currently competing around the country with her professional partner, Thomas Varian, in American Rhythm and Smooth division.

Thomas Varian

Thomas Varian grew up just outside of New York City. For college he went to Ohio State,  which is where he started his dance career in Ohio State's ballroom team, Dancesport OSU. There he competed in International Standard and Latin, as well as American Rhythm and Smooth. He worked his way up to winning a collegiate champion title, as well as winning many Open Latin Amateur competitions while studying under former US and World Rising Star Latin Champions Bill Sparks and Kimberly Mitchell.  Thomas is now competing in the Professional Smooth and Rhythm division with his professional partner, Caitlin Rose Foster.
